Delete your account
Deleting your Mist account permanently removes your account and all of its data from our server. It cannot be undone.
Option 1 — in the app
- Open Mist and make sure you are signed in.
- Open Settings (
Ctrl+,). - Go to Account & sync → Danger zone.
- Choose Delete account and server data and confirm.
Deletion happens immediately.
Option 2 — by email
If you can't use the app (for example, you no longer have your computer), email privacy@ezzio.nl from the email address of your Google account with the subject “Delete my Mist account”. We may ask you to confirm the request. We delete the account within one month, usually much sooner, and confirm by email.
Deleted immediately
- Your account: Google account ID, email address, name, account dates, Mist version, operating system and account identifier.
- All sessions — every device is signed out, and the device list (computer names, last IP addresses) is removed.
- Your sync vault and all sync records.
- Your team memberships and your member keys.
- Teams you own: teams that have other owners stay with them; teams where you are the only owner and no one else is left are deleted with all their data; where you are the only owner and there are members, you choose for each team — hand ownership over to one of the members or delete the team.
- Your personal cloud session logs, and the logs of teams that are deleted.
- Your membership in other teams (you are removed, and the owner's Mist changes the team key), and pending invitations to your email.
- Your Mist Pro subscription, and your personal Mist Team or Enterprise subscription if it has no teams. A subscription that still pays for teams handed over to other people stays without a manager for as long as it has teams.
- Your AI usage counters.
This is a full deletion, not a deactivation. What stays in the live database is your email (and IP addresses) in the activity logs of teams you were a member of, cloud session logs you recorded on other teams' servers, and — if you delete a team that has members — a 90-day notice with your email (see below).
Kept for a limited time
- Cloud session logs on other teams' servers: logs you recorded on servers of teams you didn't own stay with those teams (with your email as the author) until they are 90 days old or the team owner or an admin deletes them.
- Deleted-team notice: if you choose to delete a team that has members, they see for 90 days that it was deleted and your email as the owner who deleted it.
- Team activity logs: if you were in a team, entries showing your email, IP address and what you did (for example, “changed an item” or “connected to a server”) stay in that team's log until they are 12 months old, so the team knows who made changes. They are deleted earlier if the team is deleted.
- Database backups are kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically, so your data disappears from them within 30 days. Cloud log files are not included in backups.
- Server service log: contains only an internal numeric user ID (no email or name); rolling and size-limited, currently about 10 weeks.
- Web server log (IP address, time, path, user agent): 14 days.
Data on your computer
Deleting your account does not touch data stored on your computer. Mist keeps working in guest mode with your local data. To remove it as well, either:
- uninstall Mist (Windows Settings → Apps), or delete the program file if you use the standalone
.exe, and then delete the folder%APPDATA%\nl.ezzio.mist, or - if you use a PIN lock, choose Reset Mist on this computer on the lock screen.
Revoking Google access
You can also remove Mist from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/connections. This stops future sign-ins but doesn't delete data on our side — use one of the options above for that.
